Programs at Wakefield
LAPAN
The Foundation has the mission of inspiring students from the CE Rose and Hollinger communities in TUSD to achieve success in high school and beyond. It provides economic resources, academic tools, cultural experiences, and professional development that guides and mentors students towards the achievement of their highest aspirations.

Angel Heart Pajama Project
Our hope in providing pajamas and books to the children will let them feel like someone cares, and that at bedtime in their own new pajamas and reading their own new book will give them a feeling of comfort and love.

Project Based Learning
Project Based Learning is a teaching strategy where students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.

Students work on a project over an extended period of time that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience.

Students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. Project Based Learning fosters a contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.

PBL blends content mastery, meaningful work, and personal connection to create powerful learning experiences, in terms of both academic achievement and students’ personal growth.

Learning done in this way can be transformative for students, especially those furthest from educational opportunity. 21st Century learning requires that young people are ready, willing, and able to tackle the challenges of their lives and the world they will inherit- nothing prepares them better than PBL.
